look at my About me picture

I wrote about this picture in January 2010 one of my first blogs but there is so much more to write about. When we were less than a year old a picture was taken of us lieing on a blanket facing each other, so i thought it would be great to have a picture of the two of us again 50 yes i said 50 years later so thus the picture. And boy how we have changed. growing up was great because we always had someone to play with even all the way up through college. our paths were pretty much the same until the middle of college. stanley graduated in 4-5 years me i didnt. i quit college to pursue a career in funeral service. i got married move to dallas and went to mortuary school graduated and started a 33 year and counting career in the funeral industry. I did finally graduate from wayland baptist u. with a degree in 1998. so really i have two diplomas. I have been married 26 years i was in the funeral service 7 years before mortuary school. I have 4 children wil is 23 and graduating from wayland baptist in dec. 2010, daniel is 21 and a soph. at wayland steffanee is 18 and will be a freshman at WT in canyon in the fall and jeffrey is 16 and will spend his junior year in austria as a foriegn exchange student with the rotary international. kim (my wife) is a grad student writing her dissertation and will graduate in may 2011. life is great and that is me. stanley has been working for the same oil company since 1984 i think. he has been married since 1987 and has 9 kids yes i said 9. we are a lot alike but yet we are different too. he goes to a non-denominational church which is great and i still go to FBC tulia although all my kids go to non-denom churches (doesn't matter where they go as long as they are going and worshiping God.) I couldn't handle 9 kids i bearly handle my four. Stanley's family is a great family they love each other they care for each other they are just a great family. Even though we look alike in the pictures ( and we really do) although i have more hair, we are different in a lot of ways, but that is what makes us unique. We don't get to see each other very much but that is ok with our own lives we are pretty busy. maybe in retirement but for sure in heaven. lots of love.

it will happen

my family went to dimmitt today to spend the day with kim's parents. i had to work so i am writing this from my funeral home in plainview waiting for a memorial service to be finished. i hate working on weekends but it is a necessary evil in the funeral business but we do have enough staff that we only are on call every fourth weekend but standby every other weekend. that's not bad but when one of your staff is out and cannot take call for two months it takes its toll. that is why i hate working weekends. but next weekend i get to go to dallas to a wedding tha will be a good get away. and yes kim it will happen. i poted on my facebook the link to this blog and said i would start poting everyday and she posted on my facebook that it would never happen so yes kim it will happen. love you.

my jeffrey

Jeffrey is a very unique person. he has always been independent and his own person. lately in HS he is thinking of studying languages in college. he is currently getting ready to travel to Austria for his junior year in high school. he will leave august 10 and return in july 2011. he will have to learn german very quickly and he will be speaking it fluently within 6 weeks. He will be living with a family who has four kids, like us, ages 23, 20, 17 and a girl age 7. here is a link to the family's business web page, of course it is all in german but you can see where he will be living, not to shabby. he is very excited about going but is starting to get a little nervous. he will have to ride a bus every school day leaving at 6am because school starts at 730 and gets out at 2. they do not have sports in HS so he is thinking of playing club soccer if he has time. here is the link http://www.wiesbauer-muehle.at/. he will be on skype so we can talk to him and see him at least once a week. pray for him and for us.

my steffanee the graduate

i need to get back into the posting business so here it goes:

we had graduation last week for steffanee... it was a great evening, mom and don came up as well as kim's mom and or daughter whytney and her friend bethany. all 51 class members walked the stage and received a diploma. a 100% gradation rate has not happened at ths since i can remember espically since we started the standardized testing in texas. way to go class of 2010. steffanee will be going to west texas a&m in canyon in the fall to study nursing. she is excited and so are we. steffanee wanted me to say I am very sad to be losing my baby girl as a matter of fact i am, i cried at graduation but on a joyful note i did get to hand her her diploma on stage at graduation. wil and daniel didnt want me to when they graduated so it was glad when she asked me to hand her her diploma. The reason i got to is because i am on the school board. she has received a lot of grad. gifts as living in a small town has its benefits.

no title

it has been a long time since i posted on this blog. it is hard to get into the groove. a lot has happened since then. we have been really busy at work ptl, hey it pays the bills and i always say if someone dies they might as well use the best. wil and daniel are still at Wayland daniel is a sophomore and wil is a senior who will graduate in dec. 2010. kim is working on her dissertation paper and is about to finish except for the case study she has to do hopefully she will graduate in dec 2010. steffanee will graduate from Tulia High School on May 28th as number 4 in her class. she plans to attend WTAMU in the fall in nursing. Jeffrey is getting ready to travel to Obernberg am Inn, Austria in August as a rotary foriegn exchange student and will be there his junior year of high school. he is so excited and we are too. it will be a great experience for him, if you don't have skype then you need to get signed up so you can see him in austria and talk to him. me i am still playing softball. i pitch and had a ball come back at me so fast it hit my glove then my ring finger on my right hand then my right thigh,( i did recover to throw the guy out at first), but i ended up with a jammed finger and a softball size bruise on my thigh. it is fun though. we stay pretty busy here but that is ok. got to go for now i will try to post soon.

Mirror Images

I have a twin brother. We look exactly alike and always have. We were dressed alike until we were in the 6th grade (i think). We both wear glasses, we both are athletic and competitive, we are both 6'2" and weigh around 210. Up until our second year in college we did everything together for the most part. We went to the same church, the same college, we were in a spirit club together, but we never roomed together in college (we were sweetmates one year). Before each of us were married we were best friends, now our wives are our best friends, but we are our second best friends. We aren't to different except he likes the LA Lakers and I like the Boston Celtics, he likes the Washington Redskins (or any other team besides Dallas) and I love the Dallas Cowboys, what is wrong with that boy. Not only do we look alike we talk alike, we even laugh the same, sometimes we even think alike, you know what they say, "Great Minds Think Alike". It has always been fun being a twin because you know there is someone in the world just like you. You are bonded together since conception. We do have a lot of differences too but the most important difference is, I AM BETTER LOOKING!!!

Brain's vs. Brawn

I sit here trying to think about what I want to blog about and nothing comes to mind. That is not unusual for me. I am not a deep thinker. I am pretty laid back and take things as they come most of the time. In my family Kim is the brain's and I am the good looking one. She is so smart I am blessed. And guess what, my kids are all smart as well, thank you Kim. Don't get me wrong, I am not stupid, (I heard that), but I was not an over achiever in school either, (let's just say I went to college for the FUN part? Kim went to school for the education, which see is still going to school for the education (she will graduate in Dec. 2010 with her Doctorate) and she got me in the process. Now Wil he went to HSU his first year to play football, which he did really well, but transferred back to Wayland to be closer to home. He is very social but he is very smart as well. He really doesn't have to study but he gets the job done. If he would apply himself he would really get the job done. Daniel is my thinker. He is very smart, I think he has a genius IQ, but Daniel is not as sociable but wants to be, he has all the skills but needs to practice them more and we are working on that. Steffanee is well let's just say she is a girl and everything that comes with that. She is pretty and smart, (like her daddy, I heard that), no. 4 in her class, national honors society, Ms. social butterfly, athletic, you get the picture. Jeffrey is our male social butterfly, he has more friends I think than I do (and I have a ton of friends), but he is friends with anyone that he comes in contact with from age 4 to 90. He is very smart as well and athletic. He doesn't have to push himself to study like I did. He finally got his driver's license in January and has been driving the 57 chevy to school, he is Mr. Popular. So you see all my kids are individuals, thank goodness. It makes for an adventure of a lifetime and I am enjoying the ride. I just finished filling out steffanee's college application to WTA&M in Canyon and one of the questions was how many household members will be in college in 2010, I will have 4 students in college until Dec., Kim, Wil Daniel and Steffanee; all I have got to say about that is SEND MONEY!!!!! Have a great day.

Hair, It just doesn't matter!!!

Hair, have you ever had that battle at home with your kids. "You will not wear your hair long as long as you live in my house". Kim and I decided a long time ago that hair would not be a battle we would fight in our house. All of our kids are very independent and very different from one another. Wil has had long hair, no hair, a mohawk (orange), a full beard, a gotee, no beard and now he has four tatoos and two lip piercings and ear rings, Daniel grew his hair down to the middle of his back in high school and then cut it off and donated it to "Locks of Love", no tatoos yet but he does have ear rings. Steffanee has always had long hair (no big battle there) and Jeffrey has also had no hair, short hair, long hair and now he stands his straight up on top. Then there are Kim and I. Kim has had long hair, short hair, shorter hair and now she wears it spicky, and me, I used to have long hair and now some will say I have no hair but I actually do, unless you are 8' tall and can see the top of my head, as my children and Kim will tell me, "you have a bald spot", whatever!!! So in raising your kids I say pick your battles otherwise you will be fighting all the time.

My First Posting on My Blog

Since my life tends to evolve around my children I will srite about Jeffrey and Steffanee's b-ball games tonight. We went to Floydada, Whirlwind country, (A whirlwind is a small tornado). The girls played didn't play as well as they could have and ended up losing 43-51, just couldn't getit back past the 6 to 7 point edge. Steffanee played a good game shooting 5-11 but 2-5 free throws. Even though the stats do not indicate it she did play hard as did all the girls. Jeffrey played well also. The boys team has been struggling lately with not playing hard during games or even practice. So the coach called them out publicly calling them lazy. It made a lot of paernts mad. He invited paernts to come to practice to see how lazy they were. I have gone to practice every day this week. It helped because the kids practiced harder this week and the coach coached better this week (accoding to the kids). Everyone in practice stepped up their game and it showed tonight on the basketball court. Even tough we lost 38-54 the game was a lot closer that the score. The boys picked up their game and the coach picked up his game as well. Jeffrey went 4-8 shooting and 0-1 free throws, 9 rebounds. It was a good night even though we lost both games. Keep the faith, sometimes it is all we have.
